Ei Magazines

Milestones:

On July 6, 2025 the IMPACT Magazine topped 265,000 views.
On July 6, 2025, the Ei Magazines topped 1 million-combined views.
On July 25, 2025 the RiA Magazine topped 750.000 views.

The 750,000-views, 265,000-views, and 1,000,000-combined-views milestones for niche magazines are monumental achievements; the milestones substantiate the published article collection as a prominent industry resource and respected journalism. Though at different velocities, the magazines are surpassing milestones in tandem.

What an honor!

The RiA Magazine article, RiA Magazine tops 750,000 views, a monumental achievement, celebrates the milestone achievements and gives an overview of readership statistics.

Agriculture, Water, Land Nexus: Unlocking the Intricacy

On May 28, 2025, the LAI Global Water-Land Series Group (Group) hosted the Agriculture, Water, Land Nexus: Unlocking the Intricacy global webinar. Ei Advisor Durga Poudel, Ph.D., then Professor and Coordinator of the Environmental Science Program and Director of Ag. Auxiliary Units, University of Louisiana, Lafayette, was the lead speaker in the prominent webinar.

In layman's terms, the webinar explains how chemical-based agricultural practices in the Midwest are responsible for the hypoxia scenario in the Gulf, commonly known as the Dead Zone.

The RiA Magazine article, Agriculture, Water, Land Nexus: Unlocking the Intricacy, provides a recap of the three impressive presentations; the webinar-video recording is available at this LINK. PPT presentations are available for viewing/downloading via respective links within the article.

Rewilding Urban Landscapes

  front-yard-2
Beyond regenerative agriculture and landscape practices, rewilding land restores the natural ecosystem that evolved over thousands of years. Rewilding land requires the restoration of native plants and cultivates food for indigenous insects. Strong insect populations are the foundation for restoring wildlife-predator/prey hierarchies that once thrived prior to human intrusion.

Inherent within rewilding urban landscapes are three primary benefits:
  1. Restoration of vibrant soil ecosystems and urban-wildlife populations; production of nutritious food destined for wildlife and humans.
  2. Drawdown of carbon from the atmosphere into the soils via plant photosynthesis.
  3. Establishment of food-secure neighborhoods within a community.
When she returned to her hometown, Sarasota, Florida, in 2021, Ei Founder & CEO Holly Elmore dedicated her nearly 8,500-square-foot yard to two rewilding pilots. The front yard is the Ei Native-Plant Landscape Pilot and the backyard is the Ei Permaculture-Oriented Landscape Pilot.

The RiA article, Building Soil Security via Rewilding Urban Landscapes, provides the Pilots' history as well their evolution, survival through the 2024 Suncoast Hurricane Trilogy, and the recent major maintenance project.

The Holly Elmore Images (HEI) gallery, 2025 Rewilding Pilots Maintenance, documents the profound pilot maintenance. For most of the three-photo series, images are in reverse chronological order, beginning with post-maintenance, followed by pre-maintenance, and completed with the initial installation. It was inspiring to witness the evolution of the Pilots, both from hurricane resiliency and maturation.

Bob will also speak on the Florida Suncoast's 2024 Hurricane Trilogy: the preparation, destruction, recovery, and resiliency efforts for future hurricanes.
- Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley - will share how the Annapolis historic district is flooded over 100 days per year from sea-level rise; the City Dock Project is designed to create a resilient scenario for downtown Annapolis.
- Enrique Cabrera, Ph.D., Professor of Fluid Mechanics, Universitat Politècnica de València - will discuss the October 2024 catastrophic Valencia, Spain floods caused by the DANA Effect; challenges with the clean-up process as well as plans to prevent future disasters are integral to his presentation.

LAI FL Suncoast Chapter

On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Architecture Sarasota (AS) hosted the the LAI FL Suncoast Chapter (Chapter) for an empowering meeting at their stellar McCulloch Pavilion headquarters. Thanks to J.P. Morgan Private Bank's generous sponsorship the meeting was free to attend for chapter members.

After a new-member induction, Chapter Emcee John McCarthy introduced AS President Marty Hylton who gave a superb presentation to the nearly 50 LAI and AS members as well as prospective members attending the event.

Marty opened his excellent presentation with an overview of the Sarasota School of Architecture (School) with a multitude of iconic images intertwined with interesting, often humorous, anecdotes regarding the architects and/or the buildings.

The IMPACT Magazine article, Transforming Places, Inspiring Lives, gives an overview of the empowering meeting with a feature on Marty's impressive presentation.
