Upon arriving in Sarasota, Holly immediately embarked on building a local Lambda Alpha International (LAI) group of At-Large members. A LAI member since 2013, Holly enters her second term as LAI Global Assistant Communications Director and serves on the Executive Committee.
LAI is a 90-years-old land economics honorary where members are nominated for the industry expertise and accomplishments.
During her early months in Sarasota, Holly scheduled Ei- and LAI-introduction meetings with the Sarasota environmental leadership. With nearly 100% success, the environmental leaders accepted Holly's LAI At-Large-member nominations.
With no current chapter in Florida, Holly established an Environmental Leadership Group (ELG) of At-Large LAI members; intentions are to launch a formal LAI Chapter in the future once membership expands beyond the environmental community to a broad spectrum of land economics professionals.
Established in late 2021, the ELG consists of prominent environmental leaders in the Sarasota area with a stated commitment to the economic impact of water quality on the region. Located on the Central Florida Gulf of Mexico Coast, Sarasota is a gem in The Sunshine State. With amazing barrier-island beaches (Siesta Key was named #1 beach in the U.S. by TripAdvisor,) and lovely intracoastal waterways, Sarasota's economy is water-quality based and driven by tourism.
ELG members, along with their respective headshots and bios, are listed on the Ei ELG page.
The RiA Magazine article, Coastal Water Quality: land-based activity determines the quality & related economic impact, introduces LAI, announces the environmental LG, and showcases how LAI members work together and support each other.

Ei supports the SURF - Suncoast Urban Reforesters - Microforests via Ei Supporter Zach Zildjian Design Services (ZZ Design) mentorship and HEI photo-documentation services. ZZ Design provides the technical expertise required to design and implement microforest-soil preparation and tree planting.
Ei Advisor and SURF Founder/Visionary Charles Reith is the lifeblood behind the impressive microforest movement in the Sarasota vicinity. As President-Elect of The Sarasota Bay Rotary Club, Charles secured unwavering Rotary financial and volunteer support by the local club. Holly is an active Sarasota Bay Rotary Club member via Charles' nomination and sponsorship.
On January 18, 2023, over 100 volunteers from 5-years old to 85-years old participated in the Heritage Harbor Microforest-planting day. The HEI Heritage Harbour Microforest Planting album gives a still-photo documentary of the event. Post-planting, the Heritage Harbour Microforest continues to thrive.
Supporters of the Heritage Harbour Microforest celebrated the five-months old microforest on June 7 at a sign-unveiling ceremony. The HEI album, Heritage Harbour Microforest - Sign-Unveiling Event, documents the celebratory event.
Under the direction of the ZZ Design Team, a group of volunteers from the Sarasota Bay Rotary Club, the Mangrove School, and committed local residents planted the Mangrove School Microforest in mere hours. The late June microforest was funded by generous grants from the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program and the Sarasota Bay Rotary Club. The HEI album, Mangrove School Microforest, documents the successful microforest planting.
The RiA article, Urban Afforestation: Food Forests and Microforests, gives an in-depth introduction to food forests and microforests along with their profound environmental and societal impact; global examples are featured.
