Weather & Attire

The long-range weather forecast is FANTASTIC with lows in the mid-to-high 50’s and highs in the mid 70’s; there is a less than 10% of rain.

Overall, attire is casual – we are in Florida!!! For the Opening Reception, we ask attendees to wear business casual attire where jackets are welcome for men, yet ties are not necessary. On the Tours, please wear comfortable shoes and attire; nice shorts are welcome! There will be walking, especially on the Friday Sea Tours.

Though temperatures are expected in the mid 70’s for the Sarasota Bay History Cruise, you may choose to bring a wind breaker for the cruise.

For those attending the Friday Happy Hour and especially dinner at Sage, please wear casual business attire to a bit nicer for dinner; though the rooftop lounge is casual, the restaurant is a fine-dining establishment. Please refrain from wearing flip flops; ties are not necessary for men.

Parking

If you rent a car or otherwise drive to the Tours, we recommend that you download the ParkMobile App from your phone’s app store; there are QR code near parking spaces for easy download if you prefer to wait for the app download. The City of Sarasota charges for downtown parking and will ticket cars with expired or unpaid parking. The ParkMobile App is easy to use, identifies your parking zone, and notifies you if the paid parking is near expiration; you may add time on the App.

The City’s State Street Parking Garage is located directly across the street from the GCCF Philanthropy Center, the host for the Wednesday evening reception and the first session of the Land Tours on Thursday morning.

On Friday, the Sea Tours start at Selby Gardens. There is no charge to park in the Selby Gardens deck.

Sarasota Dining Destinations

Post-Opening Reception and Thursday evening, attendees may enjoy the eclectic, mostly locally owned and operated, restaurants in the downtown district. It is high season; thus, reservations are a must to garner a seat.

The Downtown Dining Guide  includes a nice selection of downtown restaurants along with their website, phone number, and brief description of their menu.

For a post-Opening Reception dinner, these excellent restaurants are nearby yet not on the Guide: Bocca, 19 S Lemon Ave, (941) 256-3565), Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, 35 S Lemon Ave, (941) 366-7788, and State Street Eating House, 1533 State St, 941) 951-1533.

UTC Dining Destinations

On the Thursday Land Tour, attendees will be dropped off at the front of University Town Center mall for lunch with a selection of dining options. There is limited time for lunch determined by our arrival time at the mall. Refer to the UTC Dining Destinations link for the available lunch options.

If you choose to dine in one of the seated restaurants, please make a reservation at your dining destination of choice for 12:30 pm no later than Thursday morning. The day prior is preferable. Remember it is high season in Sarasota and getting seated at a restaurant without a reservation is challenging, often impossible.

Mobility & Personal Preferences

The Tours agenda assume that attendees are agile and may board a bus without assistance and walk up to a mile on flat land. Please inform Holly of any mobility challenges and we are HAPPY to make appropriate accommodations.

If you have food allergies or preferences (vegetarian/vegan), please let Holly know in advance so that we may ensure that you enjoy the tasty food provided.
